National digital sound Depository – technology safeguarding of the audio heritage of Russia

In St. Petersburg in the Russian literature Institute, known as the Pushkin house from 28 to 29 August, hosted an international scientific-practical conference "national digital sound Depository – technology safeguarding of the audio heritage of Russia". The conference was organized by Institute of the Russian literature Russian Academy of Sciences, the Administration of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and electronic information resources Publishing house "RusAR".

The conference was held within the framework of the execution of the Memorandum "On participation in the preservation of collections of historical records of indigenous languages of the North of the phonogram archive of the Pushkin House" between the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district and Saint Petersburg scientific center of the Russian Academy of Sciences on December 13, 2006.

To participate in the scientific dialogue brought together experts in the Institute of Russian literature and his phonogram archive of the Institute for linguistic studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, Museum of anthropology and Ethnography Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of philological studies, St. Petersburg state University, Yamalo-Nenets district MVK them. Shemanovsky, Novosibirsk state archive, the folklore archives of Estonia. Guests of the conference were the heads of representative Offices in St. Petersburg, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous district, Republic of Tatarstan, Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Nenets Autonomous district, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), representatives of diplomatic missions in St. Petersburg, Finland, Sweden, Poland and Estonia.

Greetings to the participants of the conference were sent by the Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous region Yury Neyelov and the Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko.

In his speech, the Deputy Governor of Yamal, the head of representation of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous district in St. Petersburg Oleg Cantonists told the audience about the history of the idea of creating a national digital sound of the Depositary and the role of this project in the district, thanked the Regional development Fund of Yamal for funding the required works and the purchase of special equipment. He also invited colleagues from different regions to join the project, which at this stage becomes the all-Russian scale.

Recall that in the phonogram archive of the Institute of Russian literature in St. Petersburg possesses a rich collection of recordings of folklore of the peoples of the far North, Siberia and the Far East. These materials were gathered during the XIX-XX centuries by famous researchers of language, folklore and culture of the peoples of Russia and are of great historical value for the entire global culture.

According to the conference program with substantive presentations were made by academician of RAS, Director of Institute of linguistic studies, N. N. Kazan, a member of RAS, Director of the Pushkin house V. E. bagno and other specialists.

The head of the company RusAR Vadim Chebanov and his colleagues presented to the participants of the conference the main conceptual and technical aspects of electronic Depository. The debate was hotly discussed issues of further use of the created tool. Expressed as doubts and wishes, which will be considered by developers at the next stage of the creation of the Depositary.

And the next meeting professionals and all interested parties will be held in November this year in Salekhard, where on the basis of the regional Museum and exhibition complex will start work on the formation of the national platform of the electronic sound of the Depositary.
